Mexico City-based band Tripoli’s latest track “Ignore This Life,” released October 4, offers a respite to one struggling with illness.
Female-fronted Tripoli was founded in 2017 by Misha (vocals), Jæk (vocals), Javier (bass), and Crotter (drums/guitar). They released their debut album in 2018, garnering tens of thousands of streams. They released two singles the same year.
Tripoli finds inspiration from bands such as Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, and Rush, influences that are evident in their discography.
“Ignore This Life” offers warm, authentic vocals. The video gives a stripped down view of the song- just the artists performing the track. The emotion is evident in their faces, making the message of the song even more powerful. “Ignore This Life” is the first in a series of songs exploring the feelings of someone struggling with a terminal illness.
“We must be optimistic towards the future, but in order to heal, we must first admit that life’s been hard lately, that’s what I want our music to explore,” Crotter says.
