Hailing from the 757 area of Virginia, rising hip-hop artist TrizzyHitz returns strong after a one-year hiatus with his new EP, ’01. The 6-track collection revels in its raunchy exploration of money, power, and sex, as TrizzyHitz makes a bold statement to any doubters who question his worth: he is a legend in the making and no one will stand in his way.
“YA BOY,” the lead single from the EP, clocks in at under 2 minutes. “Bitch,” the opening lyric, sets the tone for the rest of the explicit song, which showcases TrizzyHitz’s precise hard-hitting flow that somehow feels warm, melodic, and natural. Throughout the song, he sets expectations for naysayers who “be testing me, trying me, when I be killing the flow.” TrizzyHitz notes that he “came from the bottom,” so he knows what it means to be resourceful and resilient.
No stone is left unturned in “YA BOY,” which oozes with sex appeal and assertive bragging rights. TrizzyHitz’s allure seems to be rising in tandem with his growing professional success, as evidenced by his description of an intense blowjob from women who “want me to fuck on em.”
’01 is grounded in hip-hop, but the collection’s genre-blending sounds lend a mainstream pop appeal. “YA BOY” features booming sub-bass and cinematic synth strings, which TrizzyHitz describes as “Virginia Bounce,” a nostalgic new genre of music. Fans of Ludacris and Jermaine Dupri will identify with TrizzyHitz’s hypnotic rhythms and ability to bridge the gap between modern and old-school R&B, hip-hop, and pop in a compelling way.
“BEAUTIFUL” is another standout track from the EP that offers a change of pace. In contrast to “YA BOY,” the song pays homage to the beauty of women against the backdrop of a smooth R&B groove. “Beautiful you are / You mean the world to me / More than anything / Girl my life depends / On your warm embrace is to feel and taste / Your love,” TrizzyHitz sings. The accompanying music video is empowering, featuring an eclectic group of women who are glowing with self-love from the inside out.
’01 is a noteworthy comeback effort from TrizzyHitz that is well worth an uninterrupted listen from start to finish.
