Turbo and Landon Cube have teamed up to deliver their newest single, “Zombiez,” blending their country and hip-hop roots.
Turbo is a native of Calgary, Can., and is known for his combination of hip-hop beats with classic country sounds. His music also features distinctively emotionally raw lyrics that offer listeners a look into the inner workings of his brain.
Landon Cube got his start in his childhood bedroom in Maryland, where he recorded acoustic covers of popular artists. He eventually connected with Lil Skies, who helped expand his listenership and become a success in his own right. Landon’s music has evolved from covers, to acoustic originals, to rap and hip-hop.
“Zombiez” juxtaposes the light, almost cheery backing with heartfelt lyrics. The lyrics discuss heavy topics like depression and alcohol dependency, while remaining upbeat enough for casual listening.
It is difficult not to notice the similarities between this song and Yungblud’s discography, making it a perfect fit for his fans to check out. The vocals and beat are very similar, with Yungblud having a heavier, grittier, more guitar- and drum- focused sound.
